Merit Scholarship Program

Who May Apply?
Students entering as Freshmen or Sophomores, from within or outside of the Sparhawk
School learning community, may be eligible for merit-based scholarship opportunities.
Applicants with evidence of strong ability in one of the following three areas: Music, World
Languages, or Mathematics, are welcome to apply. Applicants must have a history of strong
academic performance.
Types of Merit Scholarships
100%-tuition Headmaster Merit Scholarships: (2 per academic year)
Two (2) full-tuition scholarships are available to in-coming Freshmen and Sophomores
who fulfill the prescribed requirements of their scholarship area of interest.
$6,000 Merit Scholarships: (4 per academic year)
Four (4) 50%-tuition scholarships are available to in-coming Freshmen and Sophomores
who fulfill the prescribed requirements of their scholarship area of interest.
$4,000 Merit Scholarships: (4 per academic year)
Four (4) 25%-tuition scholarships are available, in each of three domains, to
in-coming Freshmen and Sophomores who fulfill the prescribed requirements
of their scholarship areas of interest.
Students who receive a partial Merit Scholarship may also apply for Financial Aid.
Financial Aid is based on financial need.

Terms of Scholarship
Merit Scholarships are renewable with the same conditions for each year of study at
Sparhawk High School through graduation, providing the student fulfills all of the obligations
prescribed by the terms of the scholarship. All Scholarship recipients are expected to
maintain a 3.0 GPA across domains and are expected to abide by the rules of
conduct as put forth in the Sparhawk School Student Handbook. Scholarship recipients are
reviewed at the close of each semester in order to ascertain student compliance with
the policies. Failure to meet the requirements result in loss of scholarship.
